Pack Smarter

Bring what you'll use, not everything you might possibly need
-
Build a travel capsule wardrobe. Choose pieces that work together rather than packing individual outfits. If something can only be worn once, ask whether it really deserves suitcase space.
-
Pack for the first 24 hours in your carry-on. If your checked luggage goes sightseeing without you, you can still enjoy your first day.
-
Split belongings when traveling as a couple. Put some of each person's clothing in both checked bags. If one suitcase disappears, neither person loses everything.
-
Photograph what's inside your suitcase. It's useful for remembering what you packed and potentially helpful if you need to make a baggage or insurance claim.
-
Use packing cubes for organization, not miracles. They won't make your luggage weigh less. They will stop you from dismantling your entire suitcase looking for one T-shirt.
-
Leave some space. If the suitcase barely closes when you leave home, you've already answered the question, “Where am I going to put the things I buy?”
